The Birchbank Ladies Club held their Opening - Scratch "Fore" Fun event on Sunday, April 28th. The weather looked iffy, and it was cool and windy, but the rain held off and the 32 golfers who took part had a fun day. Scores were a bit on the higher side (must have been the weather lol). Teams of 4 were made by drawing one from each of 4 groups (based on handicaps) and prizes were awarded for first and second place for total gross and net. Winners were:

1st Place Gross Results: Pat Chernenkoff, Michelle Hansen, Carol Babcock, Katy Burke

2nd Place Gross Results: Sophia Park, Ilo Shubert, Louise Dewdney, Jackie Drysdale

1st Place Net Results: Maureen Elliott, Lynn Pachkowsky, Mary Lynn Trozzo, Marnie Devlin

2nd Place Net Results: Rose Katnich, Pam Clermont, Jeri Santarossa, Doreen Campbell

A "Hole in One" ball marker was presented to Flori Valentine for her recent accomplishment. We acknowledged Sharon Noble's "Breaking 100" and her pin will be awarded at a future event.

Thanks to the pro shop for their help with the deuce pot and skill prizes; Gail Rebelato and Pam Clermont (our newest volunteer) for scorekeeping; Ilo Shubert for the beautiful centerpieces; Dana Haas for looking after the finances; Carmela Livolsi and Karen Hubert for handling the social draw (won by Marnie Devlin); Cathy McAlpine for taking all our pictures and looking after the scrapbooks. Our events would not be as successful without the help of all our volunteers! The delicious Italian meal was a huge hit - big thanks to Kelly, Sarah and the Bistro staff for taking such wonderful care of the ladies - we always appreciate it.

Skill prizes were awarded as follows:
Long Putt #9 - Michelle Hansen
Long Putt #18 - Colleen Derosa
KP #2 - Rhonda Baldwin
KP #7 and #14 - Sophia Park
KP #17 - Maureen Elliott

Crazy Cash scratch tickets were handed out to everyone at dinner as their "door prize" and several people won something. There were no deuces so the $60 collected was split evenly by Karen Hubert and Sheila Johnson by draw.

Next event is the Ladies Host Retirees/Men on Tuesday, May 7th. Jeff kindly distributed an email on Monday to get the message more widely circulated. If you haven't already, please register asap and get the men you know to sign up too. A reminder - we try to avoid putting spouses on the same team. You can sign up online now (see registration tab)

The 11th Ollie's tournament is Saturday, May 25th. A signup sheet will be posted in the locker room but you can register online too! More details in both places. (see registration tab)

We are able to post more pictures on the blog. Hope you enjoy them!
